THE impeachment complaint against Supreme Court Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo yesterday hurdled the House justice committee with ease as panel members voted 38-10 to affirm existence of probable cause.
The vote was held despite appeals from some members to defer it until after the 62-year-old magistrate’s heart bypass surgery scheduled on February 27.
"With 38 votes and 10 against, this committee declares that there is probable cause to impeach Associate Justice Del Castillo," said panel chairman Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas Jr.
